What’s life all about? It’s that moment after having slept all night in a comfortable bed, listening to my wife’s breathing next to me as she still sleeps, and finally opening my eyes and realizing I have to get up and pee.
Took the babies to Lori yesterday. I picked each one up so Brad could give it a kiss on the head then I put it on the couch. Lori keeps them in the den and the door was closed. We put the carrier on the backseat of the truck and we left to go out for dinner in St George.
As we were leaving, my cell rang. It was Lori, kind of in a panic asking if the grey baby was still in the carrier. I said I was sure he wasn’t. She said they could not find him and had torn the house apart. We got to the truck and there the little stinker was! He must have snuck back in it while I was telling Lori about the meds.
He never made a peep during the 15 min ride to St G. Poor Lori and Jeff! She said he was so upset because he didn’t know how to tell us they lost the baby.
It was a good thing we were going out for supper because normally we would have gone home, put the carrier on the shelf and forgotten about it.
Dr Susan brought me the sisters, Peg and Sis. (Peg because she is kind of a pegleg – missing a back paw)
These girls are huge – like Puddin’ Pop. I wonder if their owner fed them people food. What is wrong with people?
We stopped at WalMart and got some Purina Healthy Weight kibble.
They’re gorgeous. Both are black and white tabbies. and very sweet.
Years ago, my sister lived in Petaluma. (CA) She had an orange cat who loved to hide in cars, too. This was back in the mid to late 70s and it was still just a little chicken and cow farming area where it was safe to leave cars unlocked.
There was a house that the owner raised so he could add 2 smaller apartments to under it. Sandy was in the front and come young college girls had the back apartment.
Corrigan used to get into the girls car and sleep. They would get home from school or the store and then find him.. They eventually learned to look first.
Side story- there was a crawl space from Sandys’ bedroom to the living room. Some how Corrigan would manage to jump up into the one in the living room then follow the space to the bedroom where he would cry to get out. She would have to stand on a chair to pull him down.
After about a dozen of these episodes, Sandy finally told him that if he could get UP there, then he could just turn around and go back.
That night she ignored his bellowing and he finally just did exactly that.
Kitten update: Lori called this morning. Now the grey one has the runs. Great. We were on our way to Costco so I said I would pick them up when we got back.
What to do about the girls I brought home yesterday?? I could try them in the den and put the babies back in the bathroom. But if I kick Puddin’ out, Casper will most likely annoy her.
I called Susan. After much discussion (because we have only about 5 foster moms and 3 of us are full) she called Rita who is great with sick babies.
Luckily, she was in town (she is gone a lot) and agreed to take them.
We picked them up from Lori, got a new kind of kitten chow at WalMart and took them over.
Tomorrow, Susan will take the grey one to the vet for testing and meds.
We were visiting Grandma years ago when her little cat had kittens up in the attic (there were permanent steps in the garage up to the attic and us kids were told to never go up there). It was late summer and blazing hot so we got the kittens in a box and took them to the basement. They didn’t have their eyes open yet.
The momma cat started taking them out of the box and hiding them in the underside of the couch as the fabric was loose. We had to get them out of there and close the door so she wouldn’t take them back in there. Eventually she accepted the box and they all stayed put. There were 4 or 5 plus momma cat, and since the boys were allergic to cats they took all of them to a new home.
When we moved to Vancouver Max turned up missing a few days later. We were frantic and looked everywhere. He strolled in 3 days later, soaking wet. He went up a tree and wouldn’t/couldn’t get down.
From then on whenever he went missing we looked UP. Roof, Dresser, top shelf in the closet, tree. He liked UP.
And, yes he should have been kept inside, but 24/7 wailing at the door is more than anyone could take. He was a big boy and lived to 20, so he kept himself from harm. He was also dumb as a post, so that probably helped.
My cousin brought Peanut back to the shelter on Friday, but she didn’t come back alone – now she’s fostering two bunnies! I’ve seen photos and they’re very cute. They’re being kept in one room away from the cats.

We had 1/4 inch of snow last night. Yum Yum is offended and my right foot has the scratch marks to prove it.

Wow! What wonderful thoughts about what Life is!
Would love to get this little tickle feeling but – alas – I’m a human.
But now I know why my cat is so smoochy and cuddly when I rub and caress her chin. Smile!

Yet another cute kitten post. (How did they get them to pose for this picture?) This poor doggie has a bad case of “kitten pox”.
