In all my years refereeing soccer – from the pros to the little kids – I loved to do the younger divisions ( not the real little ones because I would get laughing too hard ).
.
I would tell parents that they should take time to listen to what the kids are saying about their game. Their perspective is totally different than the parents.
.
Some examples I remember:
" Do you see that ? I almost kicked the ball ! "
.
" I wish we could get ice cream cones at half-time, instead of dumb old orange slices. "
.
And the _most often heard _ questions, often directed at me……

First you have to be playing getting in the way of the ball for starters.
