My feet like to be free and unfettered too, but I know better than to go barefoot in this cold weather. I love wearing shorts too, but I don’t wear them in the winter.
There were these two mail carriers who bet on which one of them would be the first to put on long pants. They wore shorts through one winter, then another, then started a third when the Postmaster General made them stop.
Shorts and flip-flops are sort of de rigueur, year round. The temperature, this close to the equator doesn’t vary a great deal – especially, here on the coast. When I had to go back up to Connecticut, in January, a couple of years ago, I almost froze to death !
I had to borrow a heavy jacket because I didn’t own one anymore.
I wonder where the Pickles live? Here in southern Wisconsin, the temperature right ow is 8 degrees. I wouldn’t wear shorts in this kind of weather, but I would not be surprised when I get to work later (I work in retail) to see people coming into the store wearing shorts or even flip flops. Fine, if they want to freeze their fannies, but I hate seeing them bring in kids who are under-dressed.
This time of year, the frost on the ground and the chill in the air fill me with energy and goodwill. They also fill me with thankfulness that I don’t have any nipple jewelry.

I have long been of the opinion that no male over the age of 15 should wear shorts in public.

Wearing shorts n the winter, his legs get “freedom bumps”. Wearing short in the summer, his legs get “freedom fried”.

I don’t think human legs have many cold receptors; otherwise women wouldn’t wear skirts in the cold, and we all tolerate cold better on our legs.

I meant the temperature NOW is 8 degrees, not the temperature ow is 8. Eight is not an “Ow,” it’s a brrrrr,

Quite comfortable. While one can freeze in the mountains, I would have expected the Humbolt Current to have lowered the temperatures a bit.
