Man: I know I should fire Omar.... Man: but I can't...he's family. Man: It just bugs me that I can pay someone else a lot less than I pay him to no do his job.
I worked in a small diner and the 2 owners and the son would take money out of the register to run to the store and not put a note in saying so and of course the register was short. the wife complained. The other lady working said “Well Joan and I will make it up.” Good old Joan retorted To her “Speak for your self” The subject was never brought up again. I likedthe people that came there and I got pretty good tips.

I grew up in a family business
Dads’ attitude was that he family members worked hard to show how it was done, the non-family employees just had to try to keep up

I’ve had no problems firing relatives, friends, even a wife, when they were not working up to expectations..
I was pressured into getting a summer job, where I was working, for my first cousin by his parents and mine, when we were both in high school.
He was bone lazy ! My boss put it on me to fire him, because, I’d recommended him in the first place.
.
I never heard the end of it the entire summer from his mother and her sister ( my mother ).
Fortunately, my uncle and my dad sided with me !

What a sad commentary. Just what does ‘work’ really mean to some folks is a mystery.

No you tell his parents what a slug he is, and if they don’t square him away you will be forced to fire him. At that point the ball is in their court.
