Melt the pills you want him to take in a dish with a small amount of water in it overnight, then stir in a different dog food, milk, whatever will make him think it’s a treat. My dog’s have all been falling for that for decades. Which is a good thing, because trying to wrestle a 100 pound German Shepherd isn’t an option.
My previous dog was not lactose intolerant, and I could squeeze some Velveeta Cheese around a pill, and it was not an issue. I now have a puppy (9 1/2 weeks), and have yet to cross that bridge with him.
Mine has to take 3 pills a day. He reminds me when it is pill time. It helps when the pills come with a dollop of peanut butter everyday at the same time. That way he is happy to get me and remind me if I forget to give him his pills.
I could not agree more! A few years back, while I was visiting my parents in South Carolina, I gave their dogs( A Shep/Collie mix and a Rotti) a bath. When I was done, I got a phone call from my sister in New York, who told me that my own dog(A Shep/Lab mx) suddenly woke up from a sound sleep, went to the bathroom and jumped into the tub! Dog telepathy at it’s best!

All you have to do is think about it, and they know.

Dogs are a phenomenon in their own right….they are telepathic….words or actions need never be exchanged. They are utterly amazing.
