My husband & I used to do a balloon launch to honor his father & my brother, who both died. We’d attach a tissue packet of seeds to the balloon and set them on their way. Unfortunately, my state has made balloon-launching illegal so we had to stop.
Beautiful and um, uplifting.. but plz get woodstock away from that balloon… they are bird killers once they deflate, and beaches are now strewn with them. Wish they would come up with a decomposable version cuz otherwise balloons are cool! Sigh.
A paraphrase from the huckster minister in the great movie, “Oh, God” (with George Burns playing himself…….): “Now, you can say you love my new car or you can say you love my new house, but is THAT what I’m talking about? NO!”
This has always been a very poignant strip for me. Linus and Sally look so optimistic when they release the balloon in the third to last panel, yet Woodstock’s confusion in the end suggests humor and sadness are the outcome of their effort.

“Love” means different things to different people.
“Love” does different things to different people.
All too often, the blame or credit assigned to love really belongs to the person doing the assigning.
