My people eschew using a dishwashing machine ( surprised ? ) it has nothing to do with economics but is usually a personal preference.
Even when I had a dishwashing machine, I rarely used it. I prefer to do the washing up by hand – and yes, I’m the one who is the chief dishwasher in the house.
My dad would have made us rewash all of them, including every dish in the cupboard. I kid you not. If he found a dirty plate or piece of silverware that’s what we did. Takes me forever to do my dishes now.
I remember, way back before dishwashers, being the kid forced to wash the dishes, I dropped and broke so many"by accident" that my mother quickly found different things for me to do.
