Very. My ears are pretty good, as are my other senses.

E.g. my sense for colors – I’m positive there aren’t any in today’s strip on GC. But elsewhere.

As for Elliot’s question: Of course not!

We had to watch TV in the shine of a petroleum lamp.

And the phone-reception was terrible.

I remember way back when they invented electricity. Shortly after that they invented colour.

Since I’m sure I’m old enough to be Peter’s mother…

Just for the record… my grandmother, like, maybe, Tigressy the Ancient,

had to run her computer on candles,

and move the cursor with a real, live mouse!

You’ve said you’re around 30….. so your mother is probably 50-something, and your grandmother was probably born in the 1940s…

And her mother, your great-grandmother, probably grew up with electricity….

unless she was among the 10% of the population living in very rural areas, that didn’t get wiring till the TVA or a coop brought it before WWII,

and she would probably feel just like Peter does being asked that question!

The only thing my parents did not have was television. They were both born in the 20s!!!

My dad was born in ’31 – in, I kid you not, a log cabin. he was almost in high school when they got electricity, & I remember handing my Grandpa nails as he built the addition with their first indoor facilities; one of my uncles got indoor plumbing when I was in high school.

Wells are a very deep subject.

My little sister once skidded into the living room, and asked our dad “When you were a little boy and George Washington was president…”. Daddy stopped her. “Go ask your mother. I didn’t get to America until after he was in office.” (He was from Australia.)

What do you wish you had when you were born?

(I was sorely tempted to make the 2nd question “Well, what?”!)

I went to an Uncle’s farm in Central Wisconsin in the late 30s. He had electricity. A couple of lights in the barn. Candles/oil lamps in the house. He also had a great player piano. My great granddaughter is going on eleven. I am waiting for her to ask if I had electricity when I was young.

Yes, but only when the dinosaurs weren’t knocking the lines down.
