I can stil remember a group of us high school eggheads sitting around a table late one Friday night discussing the deep meaning hidden within a Tom and Jerry cartoon.
I could teach physics with using “Road Runner” cartoons as epic examples. On the other hand, how did “Acme Co” stay in business - hint: it was a wholly own subsidiary of “Road Runner, Inc.”
@TexTech - I’m willing to bet ya’ll were smoking something that made that conversation reeeealy niiiiiiiice :-)
So Clark Kent is for real? ;-)
Of course, I do agree with the unreality of it all, especially since, who would have 2 soil rakes laying on the ground? First, they’re expensive, second, unless you’re on a big project like planting grass seed on a large plot, you wouldn’t need 2, and all I see is grass there anyway, no bare patches.
But, it was a cute set-up… very Charlie Chaplain-ish.
@PouncingTiger - I don’t think he actually loses his hair, I think it just stands up like a cat’s fur might - it’s just drawn sparsely.
Okay, regarding the Whack-A-Mole action, my theory is this: Jon is just too much into his own head, and needs someone around to see the rakes. That’s it.
Come to think of it, that’s not it. Lord, you just want to grab him and shake him.
It’s just slap stick enough to make you laugh no matter what! Unless you feel the compulsion to diagnose every little detail of every little comic. In the words of the Beatles, “Let it be…”
@Johanan Rakkav:
Yes, Daffy Duck is that much of a klutz. Just watch him as Robin Hood. “Yoiks and away!”—WHAM—“Yoiks and away!”—WHAM—“Yoiks and away!”—WHAM—“Yoiks and away!”—WHAM—“Yoiks and away!”—WHAM—“Yoiks and away!”—WHAM—“Yoiks and away!”—WHAM……………………
