AH HAH! We get a brief moment of background reveal of the family. Not a lot of that in C & H as far as I can recall.

Ah, yes…the Mother’s Curse.

What we have here is a case of ‘’What goes around comes around.’’ Sorry Mom.

“He thinks I’m a little pink pincushion in underpants” has to be one of the great lines.

The often used adage: “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”

I always wondered why they drove a Yugo, because that’s what that car looks like.

I remember cars that had no seat belts in the back, too.

You scoff, Calvin, but the Parent’s Curse always comes true. My late mother got it with one of my brothers, my aunts both got it with their kids, and my brothers both got it with THEIR kids!

I would never say that to my kids. I love them and want them to be happy.

When I reread this strip in adulthood, I remembered Bill Cosby saying that parents always cast the same curse on their kids: “I hope that someday you have children who behave exactly as you do now.” And then they get delighted as grandparents to see that the curse worked.

Surprised the next day, Calvin didn’t get a bar of soap in his mouth.
