    Maybe Agnes is just tired of being overwhelmed….

    There’s very little in her world she can control.

    So she picked a number she can handle…

    Just enough to sparkle,

    and few enough to name, describe, and use each one for her purposes…

    leaving it to dismayed reality apologists like Trout to try to explain away the obvious discrepancies.

     

    She doesn’t care.

    She created just the cosmos she needs.

    If she had said “At least thirteen stars,” she’d have gotten away with it.

    There were thirteen stars. When I was a kid there were forty-eight. Now there are fifty.
