One of my clients has a Black Lab like that. She would kill herself chasing balls.

I just read that over throwing to dogs who won’t stop causes terrible joint problems for them later. I know this is true. Experienced it with two of my best doggie friends.

There actually is a machine now that will throw the ball for your dog when you get tired. And the dog can drop the ball back in himself, so he can go for hours and all you have to do is supervise. I don’t know how much it costs, but I’m certain it’s cheaper than the surgery to fix an overused shoulder.

Rotator cuff, most likely. 6 weeks of physical therapy should be about right.
