Basic Instructions by Scott Meyer for July 17, 2017

Now I’m wondering how many of those Scott named could be turned into titles of adult films. I thought of a few which would be inappropriate to mention here, one I can say is “The Rack of Connie”. I can think of others but I better quit while I’m ahead.

I saw “Raiders” in the theater when it came out, and didn’t bother to watch it again until this month, when I found it was included with a prime video service I’m subscribed to. It was fun in its way, and seeing Karen Allen brought back old dreams. But I’d forgotten how incredibly stupid the movie was. In a funny way, of course. I’m not sure if it was aimed primarily at children, but it would explain a lot.

I suspect his real role model was Indy. Think about it. Indy merely looks real busy all through the movie. But if he had not existed or had done absolutely nothing, things wold have played out in the same way. Nazis would have gotten the headpiece, would have found the Well, would have rotten the Ark, would have taken it to the island, would have opened it, and would have been destroyed. Indy was totally irrelevant. Thus, a perfect role model for our friend. (Plus, Indy had a nice head of hair.)

I’ll wager Scott’s actual film favorite is either Being John Malkovich, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, or Nebraska.

“Army of Darkness” is rated R. Might be geared toward young adults, but still adults. Rick must be such a perv that he thinks only pornos are aimed at adults.

I’ll have to agree with Rick, that the sequel, “Debbie Applies Medicated Ointment to the Affected Area” is not nearly as compelling as the original. The music score was top notch though.

I can’t really rank the movies I like, but here are five that are among my favorites:

1) Fantasia (with the original orchestra soundtrack).

2) The Pink Panther Strikes Again.

3) Woodstock.

4) Return to the 36th Chamber.

5) Lifeforce.
