I found it difficult to get worked up for the eclipse yesterday. If a celestial event does not include a meteor rocketing toward earth, it’s hard to work up the enthusiasm. I would rather watch a video by Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

“That might work. Quick, start building one now, Brewster… By the time the next full solar eclipse arrives, we’ll have a lot of large ladders, and make a fortune selling them! Bwa ha ha ha…”

    “Gee, Doc. You’re a genius!”

It’s amazing that our moon orbits at exactly the right distance to cover the sun so that the corona can be seen. Hard to believe it’s just a coincidence.

a really tall step ladder would work.

…but only if you use an ISO approved ladder specifically constructed for eclipse viewing purposes.

Can you really blame the Moon for leaving?

I stared at the ellipse for an hour yesterday…..

It’s part of our Conic Sections course.

I saw totality in the UK quite a few years ago…… I will remember it but don’t need to see it again.

Another question for Brewster to ponder if the earth is flat…Whats on the other side….An old Lawrence Welk recording of “Calcutta”…..if so, lets keep it there…..
