@tcar from yesterday— I think those singing Jets were doing a commercial for a hair grooming product called Score. “Mix it with a little water and your hair holds like it oughta, that’s the Score.” The tune was from a song called Treat Me Right, I think.

What an observation by Marjie. If Marty said that, Gil would get defensive and sarcastic.

On yesterday’s thread, if the kid loves football, what does it matter if he doesn’t play at the college level? You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, right? Maybe his aspirations end at the high school level. My older son claims sports taught him life skills, like standing up to a bully who was messing with an autistic kid at school.

As for singing, it’s the same thing. The kid can apparently sing quite well. That’s fun enough, already…IF he was motivated but he doesn’t sound or look all that interested. If it IS/WAS a dream of his, he should see how far it takes him, but it isn’t.

GilPa smiles, wrinkles prominent. He melts like a stick of butter in her clutches. t-car and Chip, I did a quick search for the Four Jets Score commercial, vividly remember it. I know I’ve Googled and played it before. Assumption. Isn’t Pedro short and isn’t he gifted with breakaway speed?

The English class was blown away by a poem dedicated to the Football team. Something about an Ode to a Mudlark.

The “Nephew” will get a scholarship to N.D. where he’ll be asked to sing one for the Gipper.

Wait, last year weren’t they light on tight end, since they had to bring in a girl to play? Where did this plethora of tight ends come from that they just converted?

Back to yesterday and calling them ‘Nephew’. In the old “Tom And Jerry” cartoon Uncle Tex called Jerry ‘Nephew’.

Just noticed panel two. Reckon NIKE gives R&W a kickback for product placement?

So Marje knows that the quarterback, who wasn’t even on the team last year, has breakaway speed. And also knows nobody else on the team does. She must REALLY do her homework. Of course being, I assume, a highly paid writer, considering she full time covers the local high school sports. And speaking of highly paid, janitorial work is not on that list. Neither is generating Mopped Up Thorp, but here it is anyway:
