I have always maintained that, while an optimist does, indeed, see the glass as half full, and a pessimist sees it as half empty, a realist knows that either way, someone’s gonna have to wash the damn glass……..
a great one today. I feel just like the amount of sunshine this time of year… less and less. And when daylight savings ends in a few weeks ..really sad.
That’s an interesting question. Obviously, our lives get longer every day we live, but maybe the remaining days do not always dwindle. I have often marveled – since I was a teen in high school – how many people live as long as they intend to, then they slip away. John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Monroe all died of natural causes on July 4.

With the glass analogy, you just start calling for the wait staff for a refill.

I’m worse than a pessimist. I see a glass that hasn’t been knocked over yet.

Why bother wondering? Just take each day as it comes.

Not long ago J.C. Dithers asked Dagwood about the glass being full vs empty. Dagwood asked about ’what’s in the glass?’.

I guess I’m an optimist because every day I keep hoping something gets longer. It hasn’t, but at least it’s not getting shorter. ;-)

Life is like a roll of toilet paper; the closer you get to the end the faster it goes.

An optimist believes that this is the best of all worlds, a pessimist fears that this true

actually your ‘life’, defined as how long you’re lived, gets longer every day, however you are also one day closer to your ‘sell by’ date.

To the engineer, the half full glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

(Guess I like to at least try for rose colored glasses.)

Would it upset your little metaphysical world if I told you somebody stole my glass?

If you’re filling the glass, it’s half full. If you’re drinking from the glass, it’s half empty.
