I feel the same. But those pesky telemarketers keep calling, I never answer instead I block their calls. Then they jump to another number.BTW, Spoofing, the taking of someones number to make sales calls, is NOT illegal.
2/3rds of the calls I get are spam. I don’t anser a call, if the number isn’t in my contact list. Real callers will leave a msg. Are there really people who answer “Withheld” number calls? Must be, Trump got elected.
Mine is off most of the time. It’s for MY use, not for idiots and spammy / robo callers. The only time I really use it is when we’re on trips so I can check in with my sister. I kept track of the minutes used between my husband and me for a full year. The average monthly use was 23 minutes.
I’m about Earl’s age. First job at Bell Telephone Labs….you know the ones who invented the transistor and proved the Big Bang. My phone is off 95% of the time, and when I turn it on, what V-mails are there go away on their own. Now, that’s a great invention.

The best thing I ever did was to create a silent ringtone; if someone wants to call me, they can text.

My mobile / cell phone hasn’t been turned on for three years, as the only person I wanted to text was my other half who retired at the same time.

Earl, quick, tell me how you managed that without shutting it completely off!
