The Biology department at the University of Michigan actually did split into two departments about 15 years ago — the department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and the department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. Basically, one looks at the study of entire organisms and their interactions, while the other looks at the cellular and molecular level of life (chemical reactions, genes, and so on).
If she were smart enough she should point out the flaw in his question. He is assuming bi is the prefix, when it is actually bio, which is from bios- which means life. So the answer to his question is no, plus the explanation just given.
Rectory is from Rector “ruler”; Rectum (rectum intestinum) is from Rectus “straight” – both Latin words with similar sounds, but very different meanings, and not derived from each other
