I knew there was a reason!
Bark, and they will come.
The way it works here is that my two go outside and bark, I call them in so they won’t annoy the neighbours, then they get a biscuit for being “good dogs” and coming when called. They figured this routine out years ago!
That “something” is often someone’s crotchety uncle.
I’ve had that dog next door several times. Amazing how indifferent their owners can be about the annoyance it causes.
