Transcript:
Woman: No dogs allowed in the movies.
Nancy: Then I'll try another movie house.
Man: Nope---No dogs allowed.
Nancy: Poor li'l thing never saw a movie.
Sign reads: PENNY ARCADE MINIATURE MOVIES
They had those on the boardwalk in Atlantic City when I was a kid. Heavy cast iron and only a penny. I recently saw one on display in the Smithsonian, but, alas, it was not working.
(P4 updated to 2019 – Nancy and Poochie walking back toward theater with a child hand written sign over the dog saying “Emoshonal Support Aminal”, with some backwards letters here and there) Nancy: “Let’s see ’em try to stop us NOW, Poochie!!!”
1-NANCY: I’m doing research. Do you show adult movies here? LADY: No! 2-GUY: Of course not! Beat it. 3-NANCY: (Lightbulb on). I know where! 4-NANCY: I don’t get the appeal, but I gotta feeling that if I buy a bunch of these machines and put ‘em on Times Square in the late ’70’s, I’ll make a fortune! I’ll have to charge more than a penny though. DOG: WOOOOOFFFFF!!!!
Movies are actually a series of stills that rely on your persistance of vision to see continuity and motion. (16 or 24 per second) Different animals have different persistance of vision, thus some animals would see a series of stills. Dogs, don’t know?
PERSONAL OPINION: For me, I bet those little, short, miniature movies that last perhaps 2-3 minutes at most……. I bet most of them…… have a more extensive and deeper plot than the vast majority of the plethora of “comic book” based films we have been inundated with lately at the theater. :)

In their time, most of those machines were behind closed doors, not in penny arcades. Why? They were early porn theaters.
