Hey, I’m free now after doing everyting the spouse and child demanded of me. Can I be first to post now?

Check the first panel - he simply dozed off and the rest was gravity.

I did that in high school….I sat on the back row and every once in a while I leaned back and….WHAM! —and the teacher was oblivious (he wasn’t all there) as to why it was happening. Sometimes my buddy sitting next to me did it also. The class ate it up! Poor teacher…he was the classic wimp teacher. He was our history teacher. Felt sorry for him sometimes after I crashed backwards!

Just pick up the desk and get back to work. Sometimes I think the teacher would prefer Calving asleep.

Everybody has it all wrong! In the panel that was censored, Susie snuck up behind Calvin’s chair and tipped him!!

I am surprised Calvin didn’t accuse Susie of some sort of foul play…

Been there, done that, many a time when I was little. For some reason, I was always stuck in the back of the class, so when I fell, everyone would turn around and look at me.

I’m surprised he had enough room to do that. Kids, chairs and desks are usually packed pretty tight.

I taught it was the endless assualt of words by the teacher slowly attacking him and pushing him back. Inevitiably causing him to fall over.

I’m sure Calvin was in the back of the class, Johanan. There’s a little aisle space there.

I think his dream was the cause of the rude awakening.

That’s why the chair-attached-to-the-desk was invented. Problem solved!

First of all, it was a conspiracy! All three were to blame! Secondly, Destiny23 that’s not necessarily true! I have fallen out of a desk chair combo! It didn’t tip, however, it did create quite an uproar in class!

Well, the chair did not support him in any way that I can see…

Follow the book from frames 1 to 3. It’s almost perfectly vertical with what appears to be a single rotation.

It’s funny how you can see several different speeds of motion in a ‘still;’ Calvin, the desk, the chair, the book, and the paper.

Calvin should be arrested and ‘booked’ for disturbing the peace; then the judge can ‘throw the book at him’. That’s not quite the same as Susie’s throwing herself at him, but Calvin might put it into an equivalent category.

Some accident,no teacher that knows Calvin will fall for that ?

Calvin always thinks of the best comebacks and excuses!

Gee, this sure looks like my daughter the first few days of Spanish class this year. “Ummm, m’am, we need to talk about your daughter……” Anyways, BAD book, BAD desk, and BAD chair.

Puddleglum2… Good to see you my friend! mowammee tell her that Spanish is a wonderful and useful language if she sticks it out!! =D I was that way my second year, and then fell in love with the language my third year!

The desk used the book to hypnotize Calvin and then shoved him backwards. Gotta watch that infrastructure….

It happens when my husband sneezes, Calvin…he does 8 in a row about 3 times a week. Maybe that will convince your teacher!!!

The chair and the book are in cahoots with each other I seen them wink at each other before the so called accident.

I fell out of a chair attached to a school desk once. I fainted, and fell on the floor. I woke up lying on the floor looking up the teacher’s mini skirt. ICK!

Hi everyone, I have been reading your comments for over a year now and I thought it was time to say hello since I may have become an addict of this comments thread along the way.

Is Hobbes the real Hobbes… as in the Hobbes that posted a day or so ago?

I never fell out of my chair like that in school but I fell asleep in a lazyboy chair before and woke up upside down. The bottom was still on the floor with the springs squealing. The back was laying on the floor and my feet were against the wall behind the chair still on the footrest which was the only thing that was keeping the chair from totaling flipping over on me. At that moment I knew how a turtle felt when it gets stuck on it’s back and can’t flip over and dies that way. All the while this is happening I’m seeing the morning paper’s headlines running through my head. It was a war of wills I remember fighting the chair’s power to sit itself back up again and not catapult me straight up. I eventally got out as the chair righted itself and flipped over forward onto it’s face! In case you were wondering the chair went to the dump!

I once had a student who did this – and it was at the college level. The chairs were bolted to the floor – he just fell out – and not just once.
