Tomorrow (18 November 2010) is the 25th Anniversary of the firstCalvin & Hobbesstrip’s publication Time to go back and take a look at that first one and remember!
Mister Ed (from yesterday),
Stop “horsing around”! Have a dream about starting to attend those classes! Then you’ll be ready for the next exam and the recurring nightmare will pass into history.
BTW, is this your first post?
Today’s final frame made me think of a line from “A Christmas Carol:”
Will you decide what men shall live, what men shall die? It may be, that in the sight of Heaven, you are more worthless and less fit to live than millions like this poor man’s child
Let Calvin’s action be a lesson to all procrastinators, don’t put off work thinking it will all go away just put time in get it done so won’t look sloppy and hurried.
In Ontario for the last several years, the government has decreed that teachers can’t penalize students in any way for handing in assignments late. Calvin would have loved living here! Procrastination is now official government policy!!
Calvin sounds exactly like our politicians in Washington.
They do what they want when they want (and read it later), then call the citizenry unpatriotic when they express their outrage. Who cares if a few people die either; just implement the plan.
one hopes, that before the citizenry begins to express their outrage, that they take the time to separate the truth, from the faux news. Still waiting for those death panels!
Let Calvin’s action be a lesson to all procrastinators, don’t put off work thinking it will all go away just put time in get it done so won’t look sloppy and hurried.
runar: really..? the 18th november 2010 marks the 25th anniversary of calvin and hobbes comic strips..??
wow..i am so delighted…18 november is my 23 birthday..hehe..
“Judge not, lest ye be judged.” But, come on, Charles Manson’s life is as important as the Dalai Lama, for just one example? (Fill in your own admirable world figure.) Only as an existence not to aspire to.
Maybe Calvin has been confronted with one of those lifeboat dilemma stories. Totally inappropriate for children this young, but some teachers have done it. And even though Calvin is said to be 6 years old, the strip is seldom on that level.
bmonk said: @gofinsc, but maybe Charles Manson needs the additional time to figure it out and repent, while the Dalai Lama already has reached enlightenment.
Only someone with a conscience who realizes and understands that he’s done something completely heinous and wrong (such as what he and his “followers” did) have the true capacity to repent their sins. To this very day, I’d be willing to bet my life on it that Charles Manson doesn’t believe for one minute that he did anything wrong and therefore, feels no guilt or shame for his actions that brought about the deaths of so many innocent people … including that of an unborn child. I’m sorry but for some things, there can be absolutely no forgiveness and I hope that he continues to live – and eventually die – in prison because I fear for the lives of anyone he’d come in contact with on the outside if he were to ever be released.
I remember MANY years ago having to make a garden diorama in a shoebox due the next day and i didn’t even HAVE the shoebox yet! I wasn’t a NERD yet. Boy! I know what he means by Conniption Queen!
