Before I retired and no longer cared, the Post Office had an 8am time for all mail to be in the boxes. I understand that has kept sliding, no idea what the standard is now. The more automation, the slower the mail.The PO where I picked up company mail and mailed stuff out always had 3 or 4 clerks manning the window. but that was 20 years ago. Back before republicans in congress sold out to UPS and FedEx who want the cities but not rural areas. They also forced thru a law that the PO had to forward fund their retirees for 60 years. Just to give congress a couple of Billion USD more to spend on the MIC

Mail is a good thing. Just so it comes every week or so is plenty. Important stuff can be sent by electronic media.
