Mele KaIikimaka is the thing to say
On a bright Hawaiian Christmas Day
That’s the island greeting that we send to you
From the land where palm trees sway
Here we know that Christmas will be green and bright
The sun to shine by day and all the stars at night
Mele KaIikimaka is Hawaii’s way
To say “Merry Christmas to you”.
@pouncingtiger: Hallmark moment in panel 2, real-life moment in panel 3.
Merry Christmas everybody!
57oF/13oC chilly here @ 8am, but should warm up as the day goes on for annual family Christmas dinner in the backyard. Cloudless blue skies, palm trees etc. Walk on the beach afterward.
“Merry Christmas Everybody!”
Calvin I actually got a can of salmon from my parents one year as a gag gift. My Mom used to make delicious salmon patties and when asked what I wanted for Christmas one year I said salmon patties. Being in a goofy mood probably from wrapping and putting together one to many Christmas gifts one night they wrapped up a can and put it under the tree with my name on it.
My grandmother was notorious for running out of coffee at the holidays and misplacing the can opener to open it. One year my two Aunts, Uncle, and Dad decide to wrap up a can and opener separately and put it under the tree for her. We were opening the gifts and as if on cue she wished she had gotten a can of coffee for Christmas. Dad said, “Mom sit down for a minute will you because we found a couple gifts in the back of the tree we missed with your name on them.” She got excited, opens the can opener, looks bewildered, opens the other with the coffee can, gets red, and almost hits my Dad as everyone bursts into laughter.
Sorry to hear you didn’t get any snow, gforgina, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. A couple of inches of light snow fell here, for a perfect Christmas Eve.
A couple more inches this morning, 32 degrees, no wind….. a great Christmas Day for kids.
I remember the Christmas when my Dad was in Vietnam and we lived close to my Aunt’s family in NJ. I was just 13 and getting more adult about Christmas but my Aunt had a late child that was just 9 years old and in the prime of Christmas is NOW!!! The PLAN WAS to have a civilized Christmas at about 8-9 am but the phone rang at 05:30 saying that Elizabeth was already downstairs and opening presents …
The only snow here is accross the street for the Weather Channel’s Guarenteed White Christmas. As far as I’m concerned, it can stay there too. It’s presently 43 breezy cold degrees and not getting much warmer today.
Merry Christmas to everyone! We have 17 degrees and at least a foot of snow, and the sun is shining! A beautiful day indeed! My wish is for everyone to receive at least one blessing today, even if it’s just “bless you” when you sneeze!!!!! YAY! It’s Christmas!
No snow here and 26degrees. Last year we had snow on Christmas Eve. Went to my sister and hubby where they live and with snow already on ground main hwys were cleared. Low and behold started to snow evening while we drove around looking at lights.
Hobbes you can keep your Salmon though I am surprise you didn’t ask for tuna.
Merry Christmas!! Now let me see here. My parents always said noon is when to wake up on Christmas, my brother’s and I always said 3:00 AM, we’d then compremise with 6:00 AM with waking them up with a loud drum and jumping on their faces until they woke up, which took less than 1 second once we started jumping on their faces. LOL! :)

It’s around Christmas time that I usually consider computers to be annoying, and want to put an axe through my computer.
