If that is the case, why did Ghost tell Simon Stagg that it wasn’t the blowfish but something that he added to the dish that would ultimately kill him ?
I conclude Ghost put fugu poison in Simon’s dinner (when he was present) knowing that the coroner would rule Simon must have been poisoned as a result of the lunch (when Ghost wasn’t present). It’s a way of diverting suspicion.
If ruled an “accidental” death – end of story and investigation – you don’t need Dick Tracy on the case and Ghost commits the perfect murder. I don’t think so – they’ll be checking into Simon’s background and his and the Ghost’s relationship. We’ll see how the plot thickens.
I have tried…. tried….. to give this updated version of Dick Tracy a chance, but I can no longer remain silent. I am an old school Chester Gould fan of this comic; this is no longer a “crime doesn’t pay” comic but a soap opera. Have we finally used up all of the members of the Flattop family? And what’s the deal with integrating characters from other comic strips into this one? I’m sorry but I think that Gould is rolling in his grave.
Had a friend once who, while working over in Japan, tried fugu at a restaurant licensed to prepare it. It didn’t kill him outright, but it did slowly destroy his muscular coordination which eventually made him a vegetable. Sad, really sad.
The coroner’s tech has background music playing, “De knee bone is connected to de shin bone and ya shake it all about”. That’s why he enjoys his work so much.
Sam and Tracy are on the case, as they should be. And the coroner (or his assistant; whoever this new guy is) feeds ahem!)_ Tracy information that Is probably pretty widely known, at least among restaurant-goers. It must be time to be arranging funerals for those involved so far. And Ghost is skating, for now….

Good morning™, fellow investigators!
The coroner guy is new, isn’t he? Cool character design!

Eating blowfish (fugu).
That’s one hell of a way to commit suicide.
(Yes, I’m aware Stagg didn’t commit suicide, but that’s beside the point.)

Homer Simpson once believed that he had ingested improperly-prepared fugu.
… and I think George Takei was a guest star on that episode, too. ✨Night-Gaunt49[Bozo is Boffo] about 7 years ago
Good morning all. And grave feelings on why Gweedo disappeared yesterday. I recall it happened to me too earlier in the year for no reason given.

I too like the character design, very realistic drawing of him.

The last thing Simon thought as he faded away was
“It’s Time”
to
“Hold My Hand”
“As I Go Blind”

By weight Fugu poison (Tetrodotoxin) is over 20 times more toxic than cyanide. It is has significant usage for suicide in Japan.

Joe & Mike are getting with the current health kick, but Sam doesn’t look right without the heater hanging from his lips.
