Don’t laugh: In my experience that’s exactly how middle-aged memory (mine) works.

I hate it when that happens… having a brain fart and then days later… bam what you don’t need anymore pops up….

Just like my 90 year old father-in-law claims his eyesight is as good as when he was 6.

    Tabasco!

Sorry. Couldn’t think of what I wanted to ask the waitress for at breakfast last week.

I either get it in 15 minutes or at 3 a.m. It’s quite amazing what can be found when you rummage around in your memories. For example, I just remembered the Russian word for ‘dictionary’ from college Russian. Don’t know why; I just did.

@PSCHEARER is right about those 3am remembrances !Like all of us of a certain age some of our short term memory seems to occasionally elude us, while we can suddenly recall something from when we were children.

I have a trivial mind. Minutiae hangs around in my little grey cells forever,… but… I somehow, can’t remember what my wife said, five minutes ago !

Why has GoComics put the “UNFOLLOW” at the top of each comic???

The problem is that your brain is like a file cabinet. When you are young and there isn’t much in there, you can find the correct folder easily. At my age (73), it’s all still there, but the file I’m looking for is probably jammed in behind the one that contains all the words to “Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini”.

When I got my first computer in the 90’s, I was instructed to “defragment” often to keep info easily accessible. Soon after I came up with the idea that, one day technology and science will get together and learn how to defrag the brain… could happen…

Also my memory is great… It’s the recall that isn’t working well.

This happens to me all the time! Someone’s name will suddenly come to me in the shower, in the middle of a church service, in the middle of a conv about something unrelated. My memory is good…it’s just the processing that is running VERY slow!

I once read a book called “How to Improve Your Memory”

Unfortunately, I don’t remember much about it.

Oldest joke in the book, I know.
