Best thing I ever did was tell my kids they can’t lean on me for homework, it is their responsibility. I’ll help direct them and serve as a sounding board, but they have to learn it. One went on to be Summa Cum Laude in college.
While a person may not use the calc or trig after graduation, learning them helped the individual to think! I still use my German and French; Latin, not so much. I find the education I received in Chicago parochial schools more than 50 years ago prepared me well for university studies. My wife echoes these sentiments.

I doubt I could successfully complete an Algebra problem. OTOH, I still use and enjoy German.
