We can only wish Bill Watterson a long and creative life. My mama introduced me to Calvin and Hobbes, and I see her particular sense of humor each day in Bill Watterson’s revelations of Calvin’s fantastic life with Hobbes. ♥

Actually, it probably would have been funnier if Hobbes had said something like “You must be 8,000 years old!”

As long as HR doesn’t demand a chunk of my long hair – they don’t need to know all the prehistory of my lifestyle!!

I happened to be six when I first read this strip. I then fell in love with the word “paleontology.”

What Calvin doesn’t get is that fossils aren’t in the topsoil, he’s have to dig down past the dirt that has stuff living in it into the deeper layers that haven’t been disturbed by any recent activity. There are some places where this layer is right at the surface, but a forest is pretty much the worst place for it.

I miss Leading Edge and the daily custom comics. I’m sure this one would’ve been good. [Sigh … ]
