Perhaps Jimmy’s point doesn’t have a specific point but a generic one, instead. It seems to me that the vast majority of people everywhere don’t ever like to be told they’re wrong about anything.
And I don’t want anyone to disagree with my post today.
Hubby has a cousin (I think he’s a cousin. That family tree is a sort of bramble bush.) who firmly believes the earth is flat because Rev. 7:1 says the angels stand at the four corners of the earth. Not just flat, but square! The man is an Air Force pilot! “Yes, it looks round, but that’s just an illusion to test our faith.” The really funny thing is that even the ancients knew the earth was round; the psalmist speaks of the “whole round earth” Ps. 93:2.
While NASA photos and astronaut tell of the Round Earth there has never been an Earth bound experiment that proves the Earth is round or that it rotates around the sun or is moving through space.
Actually, the “Earth” is an oblate spheroid – not that the VAST majority of Earth-based humans give a ‘hoot’ – to 99+% of the human race, the shape and even the AGE of the Earth has NO bearing on ANY conversation. And no pertanance to their lives, at all.
I believe this strip rues the multitude of folks that succumb to the outrageous “facts” they receive through the internet or that they receive in their email or one of the “social media.”

well, the earth isn´t a sphere. More like an oblong shape.

Maybe tonight I’ll stay up past midnight so that I can be the first one to post in tomorrow’s comments.

The earth can’t be flat. Cats would have knocked everything off by now.

I think about 30% of Trump’s voters would be willing to believe the earth was flat— if Trump told them it was.
