One of the ājoysā of the legal profession is clientsā refusing to adhere to the advice and instruction given by the attorney. This usually results in yet more work for said attorney attempting to undo or control the damage. Since the retainer merely engages the attorney to the client, all the actual work is billable-hour work thereby making the attorney yet more money. And an old maxim reminds us that he who acts as his own attorney has an ass for a lawyer and a fool for a client.
