My dog’s coolant of choice is the wood floor in the living room. Whenever he’s even a little hot, he makes a huge deal out of flopping on the wood floor, stretching his legs for maximum cooling effect. Drama king.
I have an outside cat and he amazes me sometimes. He digs in the gardens but doesn’t disturb the plants. And don’t tell me he is intelligent as he has disproved that over and over again.
we had a dog that would dig up any plant he saw us plant but if we planted it and he didn’t see us do it then he would leave it alone. Got to where I would put him in the house when I planted flowers so he would leave them alone. He chewed down a pecan tree 2 or 3 times before we put a cage around it higher than the tree……now it is a huge tree.
We have an area with shorter ornamental grasses. Our Berner loves to roll around in them and the edge of that area never grows well or gets full. She no longer digs them up as she prefers to have them planted so she can roll in them. My husband planted some new ones to fill it out for her.
It’s better to roll in a freshly Planted flowers than to roll Dead animal like sunk or a rabbit then come home wanting to lay on his blanket by the stove

Dogs and gardens sure do not mix.

The soil must feel cool on his belly.

I thought we were headed for a “dogs dig up the flower bed” story, but never underestimate the attractiveness of a pun on the word “bedding”.

With two kids and a dog, she might do better with some fake plants that don’t break easily.

Why doesn’t Elly have a gate around her plants?

Our sheepdogs all loved to get under our deck and scratch away thew topsoil to lie on the cooler dirt underneath.

So THAT’S why dogs like to roll around in the dirt, especially after they’ve just been given a bath. Mystery solved!

Doesn’t the dog normally sleep with Elizabeth?
