Calvin’s dad doesn’t know what’s coming. Our number one son was three when he had his first car accident. He knocked the van out of gear and it rolled backward into the trailer. In the grand scheme of things – it could have been a lot worse. In my first accident, I ran over my own foot.
By the way, I was very impressed that Dad actually apologized to Calvin for yelling at him. I know it’s a comic strip, but a lot of parents don’t apologize to their young kids for their mistakes.
Could be. I started driving on the dirt roads around Grandma’s farm when I was 13; (thought) I was pretty good by the time i was 16. First time the old man let me take it out after I got my license, I drove it off a bridge………..
And in 20 years he’ll be a beloved high school janitor doing triathlons and make serious money from being a song writer only known by his last name. (Yes, I know 100% well that Frazz is not a continuation of Calvin and Hobbes in any way. This is just my head canon. Don’t kill the fantasy)

Dad, don’t buy a new car until Calvin goes to college.

I’m afraid it will happen before 10 years.

So true, Dad, so you might as well not sweat the small stuff.

I never wrecked binoculars. But I did good enough jobs on my parents’ cars.

One of my all time faves. Calvin honestly sorry (felt like i was going to barf is a great line!) and dad apologizing. Father Knows Best, C&H style!

As I recall, it doesn’t take nearly that long for Calvin to wreck the car.
