Clyde "Bring ‘em Back Alive was a famous animal trainer in the 40s. He was a big name in the circus and I think generated a couple films. I don’t know wheter this name in the strip is an accident or a Combo of Clyde Barrow and Warren Beatty. These guys are so clever it’s hard to tell.
Today’s strip bears the burden of way too many layered puns—Terry Beatty (fictional bank president; RL comic strip writer); Clyde Beatty (lion tamer, famed in the ‘40s, when I was a mere spratling); Warren Beatty (who portrayed Tracy in the film and still controls film rights); Frady (Warren B.’s character in Parallax View); Mazuma (“money”) Bank. The plot is smothered! But Cyrus Topper is about to put the squeeze on “old friend” Terence E. Beatty, President of the Mazuma National Bank. And, fittingly, it is about twilight time at 8:00 PM in Tracyville (Chicagoland/Naperville) around this time of year. So also for Terry, I fear….

Good morning™, late night workers!
Is that Clyde, as in Bonnie and Clyde? That would be Clyde Barrow. Maybe I missed something.

I think I’m going to go into business selling those flat driving caps to thugs in Tracyville. I should be rich in no time.
