If you will forgive an analytical;Today’s strip seems to point to millennials who think they are indecipherable. Yet in truth, all seem to follow the same pattern. And an additional apology: Look at the size of their FEET?!!
My VERY first negative about this strip – (yes, I have been supportive of the “new” Nancy). And a big negative! Perpetuating gender stereotypes that all the girls in the class hate robotics is inexcusable. No better than the Barbie doll saying, “Math is hard…Let’s go shopping.” Additionally, it is inconsistent with this character being portrayed as tech savvy and tech immersed. Nancy would want to create a robot that makes ice cream cones And does her chores!
They are TOO alike. They would likely not get along, as most people are quick to see and dislike behavior in others that they excuse or ignore in themselves.
While I really enjoy the new “Nancy” and am generally a big fan, today feels weaker and less interesting than the prior comics from Olivia. It is “ok”, but here are a few opinions today’s panels had me think about:
1) While it seems Nancy is definitely not fond of school in her current state (and the same is apparently true for Esther as well), with the attitude both of them are showing…. all I feel is sympathy for the teacher. Robotics is an after school club/activity. If both Nancy and Esther hate being their that much, they should not come.
2) The “How dare you presume to know me.” comment is, IMO, awfully damn rude and is IMO too disrespectful of the teacher and the teacher’s comment. To me, it rang as very hurtful and inappropriate. I did not like the comment at all, and did not find it humorous.
+ + + + +
I figure the comment is meant to be a commentary on individuality and complexity we all feel is inherent in our personalities. But, man, this was very harsh. The harshness made it not funny or intriguing to me.
Perhaps it is the mouthiness being aimed at the teacher that gets me. The teacher is just trying to do her job and encourage the Robotics group. Last week Nancy groused about several things regarding education… that was “ok”, but this comment today just felt several steps harsher (too harsh IMO).
And, yes, I see I have a typographical error above… “their” should be “there”. My Internet (or perhaps GoComics) is sluggish today, and I missed the error before I submitted the comment.
Having been a teacher, this one disgusts me. The height of disrespect is a head on the desk. Very insulting. Haven’t taught for five years, and this still makes me grit my teeth.

Well, say hello to Esther. Now Nancy has two friends.

Whoa! The older versions of Nancy would never mouth off like that to an adult. Not so sure this represents a step forward…

May we presume that Irma, Rollo and Nancy’s other friends from before are to be quietly retired?

Gotta get them socializing. Maybe have a cornbread party for the class. They just might go all in.
