This week has veered all over the place. Again, we are reminded that Carmen (Scott in disguise) is conservative and anti- Trump. But then, Carmen goes with “conservatives are the grown-ups at the table.” Liberals were not discussed, per se, but was this an innuendo?

Either your smart or your conservative, but never both at the same time.

Note to Scott: It’s been a long time since William F. Buckley, and conservatives haven’t been “grownups” since Newt Gingrich was Speaker.

There is a huge difference between the social and fiscal conservatives nowadays. It is reminiscent of the odd alliance between the fiscal and social liberals of yore.

In America we have come to confuse some basic terms. Republican, Conservative, Right Wing.Republican, (formerly) a political party whose basic belief is a country that successfully promotes entrepreneurship and responsibility will be prosperous. Thus promoting an economy that allows for success of small and medium size businesses. Formerly we had both liberal and conservative Republicans however they swung towards conservatism with Ronald Reagan and soon were taken over by the right wings.Conservatism is a belief that any change should be slow if at all because knowing what the rules will be tomorrow will allow people to plan for that, you don’t have to worry about a sudden rule change. Conservatives were ascendant in the Republican party because many believed if business could plan on long term stable rules they would be more successful and thus we as a nation would be more prosperous. Right wing comes from the Estates General of France when those who supported the rights of the King sat on the right, those who supported the rights of the people believing they should have the right to make decisions in governing the nation sat on the left per force. It is an embrace of the executive, in the extreme it is an embrace of autocracy and that is the reason to oppose it, we are a Left wing country founded on the idea that “We the people” are the ultimate heads of government, that the legislature we elect should make the laws we desire and the executive should execute those laws. We can be both a left wing government and conservative because these are not opposites, it simply means that if the majority of the people do not want radical change we should not have radical change. What we have currently is a right wing reactionary government where the legislature has sought to legislate the will of the executive.

Disappointing. The writer must be getting some serious backlash from his liberal friends for straying too close to the center so now he’s gone back to the looney left.

Scott, maybe you could have Carmen identify some (ANY) actual conservatives among Republican elected officials.

You know, ones who have voted against any of the swamp appointed by Trump.

Or any who actually want to get to the bottom of who conspired with Russ-e-ans to change our election?

Maybe even any who don’t LIE all the time?

The problem with totally free markets is the same problem with communism – they both only work if people do the right thing all the time. We know better. People whose jobs involve other people’s money needs to be watched like hawks and regulated to within an inch of the job’s existence.

Pragmatism. You work with the tools you have.

In this case the judicial appointments alone make it worthwhile. Tax cuts were a nice gift. Economy seems to be humming along.

If he can actually get a decent deal from NK, bonus. If he can build a wall, bonus.

Andylit: It’s so nice to see you’re doing well on welfare to be able to spend so much time ranting about the “Dems and Libertards”.

As the Reich Wing led by our POTUS continues you will see even more leaving than coming as they already have under Obama. The wall will be there for us not illegal immigrants.
