I’m *only 40 years old and I too find myself having to explain “old” sayings to those in their early 30’s and younger.

I swear this one was a recycle from a few years ago. Probably thought no one would notice.

This is one of my favorites from 2015. Jimmy hasn’t mentioned anything in his blog about being on vacation, so I have to wonder why he’s running repeats this week.

The term doggie bag came because restaurants couldn’t give partially consumed food to people to take home due to liability (as I recall). To get around the liability issue a smart person asked if they could take it home to their dog; what happens to the food once it leaves the restaurant when it’s identified for “non-human” consumption is that persons liability.

Do people still say"doggy bag"? These days, it’s “can I get a box?”

We get a Kitty bag…

Hmm. I am surprised about this. I tend to think that any waitperson of any age would know the term “doggy bag”. I may have to try this out sometime…. but the problem is…. I never have any leftovers, so I do not get the opportunity! :)

While “box” is customary now, there were cutsey terms during the transition: “dragon bag” for Chinese, “Chihuahua bag” for Mexican, “mermaid bag” for seafood, etc.

Every restaurant meal I order is large enough for 3 servings, at least. I always get a container for the leftovers and I have lunch for a few days.

Say “Bye-Bye” to the tip.

All is good if when you’re finished you don’t have to ask for a “body bag”

Here we go with PC again. For what it costs to eat out no one should have to defend to take home the remains of a meal they paid for.
