The most difficult things to assemble? Children’s toys on Christmas. Even if I had had a degree in engineering, I would have had difficulty following the directions, especially because the thing was frequently manufactured incorrectly.
Oh yeah! Trying to assemble three bicycles after the kids were asleep Christmas eve. Only back then, the manufacturers wrote in Japenglish. Good thing I was a rocket engineer!
Mine was a doll carriage on Christmas Eve missing some screws. Luckily there was a store open till midnight that sold toys and some hardware. The screws weren’t and exact match but they did the trick.
I don’t have trouble following directions for assembling things. The only direction I ignored was: needs two people to assemble. Since I live alone, I did not have anyone to help me and managed to do it by myself. No leftover parts. Those items turned out just fine.
Actually – sometimes it does. Even if it doesn’t make complete sense in that language either, often the bits of sense it doesn’t make, are different ones. And sometimes all you need is a hint.
The metric system is very simple and easy to use, it’s the conversion back and forth that is ridiculous. If we had just converted over we would get used to it. Yes I understand about the machine tools, I’m an engineer.

Perhaps he’d do better with the no-words-at-all instructions you get with furniture from IKEA.

This is why I watch soccer on the Spanish language station; a game I don’t understand in a language I don’t understand.

I love it when you need to replace a metric screw. Why do we think metric is sooo good? Make in USA,

Forget it! After reading thousands of those, I’m sure the original Chinese versions didn’t make sense either…

And some of them make it even more garbled because the instructions are for several different models…

It looks like a gas grill. I assembled one once. It was a horror, and I liked the charcoal-cooked food better.

I usually find the Sanskrit version enlightening.
