I’m disappointed that, as a budding engineer, Nancy did not take the opportunity to describe the glass as twice as big as it needs to be.

Take that, Gilchrist Nancy.

Nancy, ask her if it matters that it was water.

Nancy, ask her if it matters that it was a glass container.

If she says neither matter,…

…ask her if an 8 ounce Styrofoam cup is half full or half empty when you pour in 4 ounces of gasoline.

I’m surprised that the ‘Nancy’ in this particular ‘toon is so full of optimistic slogans, when, up until now, she’s been a cloud of doom…

…and you are stuck in that room until further notice.

The view in the blue corner of the room is better than the view in the purple corner of the room, don’t you think?

I completely understand this strip.

For me, it’s always been a case of “The glass hasn’t been knocked over yet.”

Maybe it was chem-grade acetone.

She starts pessimistic, is optimistic next and that optimism is evaporated right after. Weird.

Metaphorically, the friend WANTS you to think it evaporated… because she appears to be annoyed at your jubilance at the moment, Nancy. I secretly think your friend drank it to suggest you were overly verbose and long-winded.

But, I would suggest, Nancy, that you ignore your friend’s comment at the moment. Stay in your happy frame of mind. It will serve you well. It is all too easy to feel moody or depressed. And, there is no need to go there if it is avoidable.

Did Nancy always have 4 fingers? That actually looks weird.

One thing as a drive by comment – I almost feel the joke would work better if the two roles were reversed. The punchline seems more like something Nancy would say.

Either that was very volatile water, or Esther took “the pause that refreshes”…
