I never could figure out why camping always had to involve, enduring horror stories. What I liked about camping was sitting outside and studying the stars in their constellations, spotting the planets and watching meteor showers.

Calvin – your the real horror story just started.

Check on him or intentionally scare the bejeebus out’f him?

I just find it funny!!! lol!!!

Camping for me is a nice hotel/motel room with A/C and cable tv.

This strip brings back great memories. As a young kid I used to camp out in the backyard a lot during the summer with my best friend Phil and my dad used to come out in the middle of the night and scare the hell out of us. Good times!

Thanks again, Bill Watterson, for showing us Calvin’s awesome imagination. Was this the way your mind worked at his age? ☺

This theme has been done to death in books and movies and comics. But Watterson just seems to make it funnier than the others. He is the master.

Scary stories around a campfire used to be an enduring tradition. Yes, we scared ourselves silly. But we felt even sillier for being scared in the bright sunshine of the next day.
