On my current cell phone, I never setup voicemail so they canāt leave messages. The message says āvoicemailbox that has not been setup yet. Goodbye.ā
I once had my voicemail answering message as āHello?ā¦ HELLO?ā¦ What?ā¦ Speak up!ā¦ Nope, still canāt hear youā¦ā After word got out I had a lot of people calling just to hear it (I had the ringer shut off so I didnāt care). I love technology. And screwing with people. Especially political campaigners and salespeople.
Just changed mine. to wit: āThis phone is taking messages for (me), Boo (cat) and Darkness ( other cat). None of us has any money, so, if thatās why youāre calling, hang up and donāt call back. Otherwise, leave a message.ā The caller generally hangs up right after the word āmoneyā.
Years ago a comedian had this bit about the answering message on his cell ā āHI, I canāt answer you because Iām home now. Leave a message and Iāll get back to you when Iām out again.ā
I believe it was in a Diamond Lil strip I read: Phone rings and the answering machine starts āHello this is Lilās phone. If you think you have reached this number in error please hang up. If you are calling from a cell phone press the red buttonā Last panel shows Lil breaking the fourth wall saying āIts surprising how well that works.ā
I love it! I am not a prisoner of my cell phone, itās off more than itās on. My doctor feels compelled to leave me messages even giving out my number to other doctors despite the fact I have a landline. I think Iām going to use Earlās message because it fits.
My cell phone msg is very close to this. Sorry, Iām from the generation of donāt track me down when Iām out and about and if Iām not out that means Iām home. So call me there.
I only have a cell phone. I have a few relatives and friends who call me frequently, and they each have their own ring tone, so I know to answer. Others get the generic ring tone, until I determine they are spam or scam. I donāt delete them, I just give them the scam ring tone, so I donāt even have to bother with them if they call again, which they usually do.

Others can hear your message if you have the speaker option turned on. Great for those of us who are hearing challenged.

I donāt buy it that he has a cell phone, and I donāt believe he could record a message on it if he had one.
