Looks mis-drawn – should be a much smaller body and head, and really long wings, like a condor or albatross.

I just read that article and no it wasn’t. Those researchers made several mistakes, like using a mono spaced font and a small group of students whose experience skewed towards a comfort level with double spaces after the period. Some folks will always use two. They’ll also underline things, even though we’ve had access to larger type and bold versions of the characters for thirty years. Sad.

Wait, I focused on the period and two spaces bit. Oxford commas are great. I use ‘em every time.
