That’s what I started me smoking – joining the Army back in the 60s and everyone around me was puffing away. Was up to three packs a day of Pall Malls when I finally just quit, in the 1990s. Basically for my kids – I enjoyed smoking (but I can’t stand the smell of cigarette smoke now).
Man, I couldn’t afford three packs a day now, nor could I find places to freely smoke that much!
I used to date a woman who worked in one of the Cigarette factories in Virginia.
Every Friday, as everyone was leaving the building, they were Required to take two cartons of cigarettes with them.
The company didn’t Care is you smoked or not: You were going to take those two cartons.
She, not being a smoker, always sold hers. The neighborhood beer bar would give her cash and a couple free beers for them every week. They then sold the packs to customers, first come, first serve.
Since she was selling them at a discount over the “legal” cigs at the gas station, she said every pack was usually Gone before she finished her beer.

BD is such a conservative bigot that I am surprised he is so friendly to a gay soldier.
