You can’t just make it a guest room. You’ve got to repurpose it entirely into something that doesn’t have any sleep-able furniture in it. Study, craft room, library, game room, TV room, anything that doesn’t have a bed or a sofa — and keep that inflatable guest bed carefully hidden away!

When we visited Kentucky Down Under we watched a half-grown joey try to get back into his mum’s pouch. The opening is more of a sphincter than a pocket, and she slammed hers shut and turned her back. Joey still tried to get in; she gave him a growl that any mother would recognize and bounced away. The young ’un hopped over to some visitors for a pat and a treat.

She better be careful. Her guest could turn into a pouch potato.

He now ROOs the day he left home! (groan!)

Both of my kids left home and each of them returned for a time. We were in a different house when they returned, so they got the guest room.
