The drug supplier. Refer back to the knockout drug left at one of the crime scenes. This is the guy who supplies it. You do yourself and the meat master arrives to collect.

By “it” I’m assuming a knockout drug. So she’ll get the package, take the drug, be taken somewhere and then presumably rescued by the rats and/or Velda before she’s killed and butchered.

Interesting comment by the perp in the 3rd panel regarding “laying low” — those at or near the top of the cannibalism network realize that an investigation is underway.

Hmm. Since the people snatchers have such a loose network, the sting might work. But…they would know that the smokehouse was torched.

So, who would be having a knock-out drug in storage? Someone who also runs (or used to run?) an apothecary?

Have we seen this guy before? He looks vaguely familiar. BTW, wouldn’t it have made sense for Jacob et al to have clued Portia in on what they were planning? They had no way of being sure that she would take the bait, but COULD have been sure of her cooperation if she had known what they planned.

They have single-day mail delivery?

This plan better work, Jacob… Or I can think of a certain bear who’ll feel like grubbing down on some rabbit stew.

Fundamentally what was missed in the investigation was the anonymous tip. That could only be set in motion once fish head was identified. He was a separate cell. Now what’s curious is why that event didn’t have more attention. The fire was started after our as soon as he was killed.

I wonder if he’s also Velda’s “connection” for the drug?

If they had gotten it from Endtown Prime, it would have been there this morning.

Mayor Jacob is playing with magic that he does not understand. He should be working with the chief of police. Presidents can have all the military secrets they want down to whatever level of detail they deem as long as it is in Chinese or Irish Gaelic or some other language they can NOT read. Whereupon he will chuck it in a trash bin and say, "Translate it into English and leave out details. Just give me the executive summary: who, what, where, when, why, and how in the first, and hopefully only. paragraph. Politicians are elected to represent the average Joe, not the average rocket scientist, brain surgeon, or astrophysicist.

Aaron – Not sure if you’ll see this, but I just wanted to leave you this note. I just discovered your work a couple of weeks ago, and started with 01/19/2009. Congratulations on coming up with the most unique Rorschach test of society I have ever come across. I wonder how many people will actually see the similarities between Endtown and the world around us. Between the politics, the factions, the interspecies(racial?) relationships, you have served up quite a buffet of concepts. I hope your personal issues improve, and you continue bringing us your insights for a long time to come. – DH
