I think that’s not the kind of pressure science was talking about, Jason and Marcus.

Joseph Louis Gay-Lussac (1778–1850) would be proud of you, Jason! Nice try! Maybe drink some water to keep the volume constant in your sweating body.

    Sounded like Boyle’s Law

Boyle’s law (sometimes referred to as the Boyle–Mariotte law, or Mariotte’s law1) is an experimental gas law that describes how the pressure of a gas tends to increase as the volume of the container decreases. A modern statement of Boyle’s law is

The absolute pressure exerted by a given mass of an ideal gas is inversely proportional to the volume it occupies if the temperature and amount of gas remain unchanged within a closed system.23 Wikipedia

Just go up there and keep swinging. Something good might happen.

Kids, in that relationship, what needs to change is the air pressure, not the heir pressure.

Sounds like they need to switch to sandals instead of shoes and socks. That would help them deal with the temperature.

Jason is usually a bit better about his science than this. He should go back to school and/or take a refresher on the kinetic theory of gases.

The temperature decreases by about 5.4°F for every 1,000 feet up you go in elevation, just get a very tall ladder.

And you got another comic put up on the walls and bulletin boards of a million chem and physics teachers across the globe. Well done as always! :-)The oldest one I have up in my room is Peter doing the ballistics problem, get distracted, and turns his diagram into a pirate ship with cannon and sharks. <3

In other words, PV=NRT, where R is Rydberg’s constant.
