I found a place like that once while I was kayaking; it was a small island in a river in central Maine. Inhaled at least six mosquitoes per breath. We called it “Itchy Island” as we fled. It really was amazing.

Yeahhhh, if they can still see each other at more than three paces, it isn’t the spot on Earth with the most mosquitoes per acre.

The Alaska Wonderland they are always trying to save from oil drilling has so many mosquitoes that they drain a pint of blood from the caribou or moose or whatever a day.

East-central Texas after a disastrously rainy fall. So many skeeters and so big, we could have shot a brace with a shotgun and taken them home for dinner.

Had a friend of my step-father tell me about time spent in summertime Alaska. The mosquitoes would stick their probiscis through the tent material. They would use a straight razor to shave off the mouth parts of the skeetos.

I forget: aside from the trip to Hawaii, has anything Roger picked ever been anything BUT a disaster?
