I had a similar reaction when my family recently visited from the West Coast. “Mom looks like she’s nearly…. Oh, wait. She nearly is. Damn, that means I’m old too!”
Every time I see a schoolmate of mine I’m struck on how old they look to me! Of course 43 yrs after graduating might do that & then I realized how old I must look to them, too!! Acck!
Don’t forget lifestyle, too. Sun-lovers look older than their peers, drinking and drugs age you, so does chronic physical illness. But, it sure was a shock, when I found out one of my friends at Church was just three years older’n me! And I’ll be sure to never-ever-never say that, either!!!
Aging varies a lot. I noticed at my 50th HS reunion: some people looked ancient, a few had barely changed since HS and most of us were in between somewhere.
At my 50th reunion if you had asked a stranger what all these people have in common they would never guess they were all the same age. Some looked maybe 50 and others could have been 90. It’s a real shame that the less time you have left the faster it goes!
Different people age at different rates due to variety of causes. I have a brother who is 3 years younger but looks 10 years older. He drinks, smokes heavily, and lived a rough lifestyle.
At my 10th reunion, I was amused to note the jocks that had given me and others a hard time were mostly fat and balding. I took some solace in that (and smiles a whole lot).

Wonderful facial expressions! Love the way the hair moves, as well.

The older we become, the louder the knocking on the door becomes until, unbidden, he’s in the room.

Disappointed Janis?

I know that I was never the guy that turned girls heads, and age certainly hasn’t made me better looking
However, at 56 I have all my hair, face isn’t too badly lined, and instead of a pot belly I’m still rather fit and muscular
I probably turn the heads of women my age now more than I ever did when we were all younger

Time does few people any favors, and to some the years are worse than cruel.

The other guy has aged in real, Facebook time, not in comic strip time.

As long as I don’t “feel” old , I’ll stay “young.” (No, I don’t know what that means either.)

Dating a lower classman? He must have been a hunk. Methinks there is more to come.

Annoying how my celebrities that I thought were older than I am, turned out to be younger and then they die!

In another 20 years or so, he’ll be considered a catch if he’s still ambulatory. Women outnumber men significantly in that age group.

My wife tells me that in her eyes I’m still 36. They say that the eyes are the first to go. ;-)
Well, what the heck. Everything still functions. And I see her with the mind of a 16 year old. ;-)

As long as someone in your age group excites you, you’re not old.
