    The magnificently written television series, “Northern Exposure,” had an episode based on this topic, but of course, the discovery was deep beneath the wilds of Alaska. What the good folk of Cicely learned, though, was that purity is a rare thing, no matter the time, place or space.

    During the Spirit/Opportunity Mars Rover landings I commented online to the affect that we sure were leaving a lot of trash lying around and fouling up the place. THAT did not go over very well.
