My wife saved me twice. First time I hade a pain in my stomach, felt light headed and could not stand up. My wife called 911 and I said “no don’t, I’ll be okay soon”. They took me to the hospital. Turned out I had a bleeding ulcer and had lost half my blood. The second time I woke up and could not breath. Again she called 911. I said "don’t, I just have a cold. Again they took me to the hospital and I had pneumonia. Next time she calls 911 for me I will not protest.
I avoid hospitals as much as possible. Only had two in-patient treatments in my life. The first time I have no memory of because I was in a coma from an ignored bout of Hepatitis-B.
Same here. I kept ignoring a pain on my right side until I couldn’t hardly stand up. Called my sister to take me to the emergency room. Ending up having gallbladder surgery.
I waited for hours while the pain in my back kept getting worse. Finally couldn’t wait for wife to get off work, called 911, they came fairly quickly. Went to hospital. First they assumed a heart attack. A couple of tests they discovered I was had a pulmonary embolism, aka a PE and I also had a DVT-a blood clot in my leg after knee surgery. Some fun. Several months later, after a gastric bypass I discovered blood clot in my other leg, which meant another week in Hospital while it was dissolved. Then gall stones 5 years later. When the VA hospital sent me home too early I almost died, wife could not wake me up, went to other hospital, spent 37 days there, first 4 days in ICU. Because no potassium, not just low but so low they could not find it. Then on to huge kidney stone, again in hospital to blast , then heart attack, then nose bleed due to way to many blood thinners. Spent 6 days in Hospital with constant nose bleed. Before they could fry the bleeders with Silver Nitrate they gave me 6 units of plasma along with 2 units of blood. Yep, almost bled out with a nosebleed. Then back to hospital several times until they got runaway heartbeat under control. Then back again to ER due to heart palpitations several times until an older woman Dr figured out that I was getting dehydrated. BP when I had the palpitations was down to 60/40. So started drinking lots and lots of water to stop or slow down dehydration and bring BP back to normal-for me-range. “Normal” being about 100/60 when resting. Then, I started having severe breathing problems. According to Dr I have COPDBefore knee surgery when I was 45 years old never got “sick” never had a sick day. 12 years in Army in a combat support MOS, never sick or injured a single day, including 1 year in Vietnam. Then after 18.5 years working for FedGov, I was forced into retirement at age 45 due to numerous illnesses and surgeries. its been 23 years since first surgery
Monty Python, in Search for the Holy Grail, somewhat quoted from memory, after King Arthur cuts off the black knight’s arm: You have to let us pass now! NO I DON’T, IT’S JUST A FLESH WOUND! No, I cut off your arm! NO YOU DIDN’T! Look, it’s lying there on the ground! WELL, I’VE HAD WORSE! You’ve had worse???!!! YEAH! COME ON, YOU BIG PANSY! … He should have quit while he was only one arm down!

Everyone thinks I’m a hypochondriac. It makes me sick.
