Once more, someone disgustingly tries to update a classic comic, and ruins it. Julia Roberts wasn’t even a gleam in her granddaddy’s eye when this comic was first published.
I hate it when they try to “modernize” classic strips! It is more fun when they stick with the original dialogue! Last week, there was a joke about Jeff trying to sell a fish to a woman for 17 CENTS per pound and she didn’t like the looks of any of the fish which Jeff showed to her. So Jeff supposedly asked her if she was waiting until the fish looked like Brad Pitt! I am pretty sure that Brad Pitt’s GRANDFATHER hadn’t even been born back in the day when it was possible to sell fish for 17 CENTER per pound! Hopefully – some of the lesser lights at Go Comics will wise up and will realize that it is the ORIGINAL dialogue which makes the “classic” strips CLASSIC!

I wonder who the original had as the actress. Rita Hayworth?

I wonder what color the sky is in Jeff’s world.

My memory is fading…. Didn’t this strip originally have “Hedy Lamarr” in the third panel?

Old joke and obviously updated. But even in updating it, it is now old.

Sigh… Goodbye, Mutt & Jeff! If only your original work could have been allowed to remain true to the artist’s intent…
